ACCESSABILITY

Please find outlined below information which we hope will ensure you enjoy your visit to the Apartments and The Cottage at Clos de la Tour regardless of whether your life is affected in some way by a medical condition, disability, impairment, or specific learning difficulty.

Our luxury apartments and cottage on Sark are set in the private grounds of Clos de la Tour, which is located within a 3-minute walk from The Avenue and a five-minute walk from the top of Harbour Hill. We have 2 self-catering properties; the Garden Apartment which is situated on the ground floor with direct access from the garden, the Loft Apartment which is situated on the first floor with access through a door on the ground floor leading to a 9 step staircase with handrail, leading to a landing from which the apartment can be accessed through its main door. Our third property is The Cottage which is a two story building, access is through a ground level glass porch which leads directly into the open plan first floor, a wooden staircase leads to the open plan first floor sleeping area.

All properties have a separate bathroom comprising of large shower, WC and wash basin.

UPON ARRIVAL

Upon your arrival at Maseline Harbour on Sark you can leave your labelled luggage on the ferry and our dedicated carter (Jimmy’s Carting) will ensure that it is taken off the ferry and delivered to your self catering holiday accommodation at Clos de la Tour, usually within a couple of hours of your arrival on Sark. The cost of transportation of 1 item of luggage per person booked is included in the accommodation rental price.


After disembarking the ferry walk through the tunnel and you will see a tractor pulled bus which will transport you to the top of Harbour Hill, the cost is approximately £1.20 per adult and 60p per child. Harbour hill is a hill that climbs approximately 250 feet over a distance of approximately ½ mile. The bus will take you as far as the Bel-Air Inn at the top of Harbour Hill and it will then take you approximately 6 minutes to walk to your accommodation at Clos de la Tour.
We will be at your chosen self catering accommodation to greet you upon your arrival and show you the accommodation you have booked plus the facilities at Clos de la Tour.


Cycle racks are available for the parking of cycles in an area of the gardens surrounding the apartments.
Sark is a Dark Sky Island and there are no street lights on the Island, we therefore recommend that you bring a torch with you.

ENTRANCE TO THE APARTMENTS

The pathway leading to the Garden Apartment and the Loft Apartment is gravelled concrete and is situated approximately 10 metres from the gates at the entrance to Clos de la Tour, it is the first pathway on the left as you enter the gates. There is no dropped kerb.

The pathway leading to The Cottage is gravelled concrete and is situated approximately 20 metres fromm the gates at the entrance to Clos de la Tour, it is on the left past the utility room.

Entrance to the communal utility room is by a short pathway leading off the main roadway within the grounds of Clos de la Tour. There is a step of 12 cm up into the utility room and once inside a concrete pad and then a step of 12cm down into the room.

PUBLIC AREAS, HALL, STAIRS, LANDING

The hall, stairway and landing leading to the Loft Apartment is well lit.
The Utility room is well lit by fluorescent lighting.

ENTRANCE TO THE APARTMENTS

The entrance to the Garden Apartment is located on the ground floor and is direct from the garden area. There is a stone pad outside of the door which is 6cm high, 90cm wide and 60cm wide.
The entrance door is 88cm wide it opens inwards and leads directly into the apartment.
There is an outside light which is operated by an indoor switch which is located on the left hand side of the door.
Entrance to the Loft Apartment is through a main doorway which leads to a small entrance hall which leads to a wide wooden staircase of 9 steps which leads to a landing. The Loft apartment entrance door is situated directly at the top of the staircase and has one step of 18cm up into it.
The floor surface throughout the hall, stairs and landing is short pile carpet.

ENTRANCE TO THE COTTAGE

The entrance to the cottage is through a concrete and glass sided porchway located on the ground floor and is direct from the garden area. There are two doorways which both open inwards one on the porch and a second to enter the cottage, each doorway has a lip of 6cm.
There is an outside light which is operated by solar power and switches on and off automatically.

LIGHTING AND FLOORING

The Garden Apartment is well lit using a combination of table and floor lamps plus ceiling lights
The floor covering in the bedroom and lounge is short pile wool carpet and in the kitchen/diner and bathroom it is plank effect vinyl.
The Loft Apartment is well lit using a combination of table lamps and ceiling lights.
The floor covering in the bedroom and lounge is short pile wool carpet and in the bathroom and open plan kitchen/dining area it is plank effect vinyl.
The Cottage is well lit using a combination of ceiling lights, wall lights and table lamps.
The floor is covered in wool carpet in the lounge and bedroom areas, in the kitchen and bathroom is is cork flooring.

LOUNGE AREAS

The separate lounge in the Garden Apartment is accessed through a level entry 67cm doorway leading from the open plan kitchen/diner/lounge area. It has one small window. In the lounge are 2 sprung chairs which convert to single sofa beds, 2 low tables which doubles as bed side cabinets, a chest of 6 drawers, a Sony Bluetooth usic centre and two table lamps.

Lighting is by natural daylight and by a combination of ceiling downlights and a table lamp during hours of dark.
The open plan lounge area in the Loft Apartment is accessed by a 6cm step down from the entrance/kitchen area. It has two large windows facing east plus two smaller windows facing south. The kitchen area has a fixed glazed skylight.Furniture in the lounge comprises of a 3 seater reclining leather sofa plus a matching reclining leather chair, a flat screen HDMI enable TV with Sky Freesat sitting on an oak corner unit, a Sony music centre and a large oak coffee table.

Lighting is by natural daylight and by table lamps plus a combination of directional ceiling lights during hours of dark.
The open plan lounge area of The Cottage is accessed from directly through the main entrance door, there are no steps between the open plan lounge / dining / kitchen / bathroom areas. Furniture comprises of a 2 seater cottage style sofa plus two single sprung chairs which convert into single sofa beds, two coffee tables which double as bedside tables. a flat screen HDMI enabled TV with Sky Freesat.

DINING AREAS

The Garden Apartment dining area is open plan and forms part of the kitchen/seating area.
The dining table is wooden and has legs on each corner, four wooden chairs are provided.
The chairs are wooden; they do not have arms.
There is a leather 2 seat sofa in the seating area plus 2 leather footstools and a small round glass coffee table.
There is an HDMI enabled flat screen TV with Freeview.
Lighting is by ceiling mounted downlights.
The Loft Apartment dining area is a breakfast bar with 4 bar stools situated in the open plan kitchen area.
The Cottage dining area forms part of the open plan kitchen and lounge area, it has a wooden table with legs on each corner and 4 chairs are provided.

KITCHENS

The Garden Apartment has an open plan kitchen/dining/seating area which connects to the lounge, bathroom and bedroom.
The kitchen has painted wooden kitchen units, a fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine, electric toaster, electric oven & hob plus ample crockery, saucepans, cutlery and kitchen utensils.
Lighting is by ceiling downlights.
The flooring is wood effect vinyl.
The Loft Apartment has an open plan kitchen/dining area which connects with the lounge, and bedroom.
It has laminated wooden kitchen units, a fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine, electric toaster, electric oven & hob plus ample crockery, saucepans, cutlery and kitchen utensils.
Lighting is by ceiling lights a downlight unit over the breakfast bar plus under cupboard worksurface lighting.
The flooring is wood effect vinyl.
The Cottage has an open plan kitchen/dining area which connects with the lounge and bathroom.
It has laminated wooden kitchen units a fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine, electric toaster, electric oven & hob plus ample crockery, saucepans, cutlery and kitchen utensils.
Lighting is by ceiling lights, under cabinet lighting plus a glass skylight.
The flooring is cork.

BEDROOMS

The Garden Apartment has one bedroom with a king size bed and soft headboard. There is step free access from the entrance hall area into the bedroom.
Lighting in the room is natural daylight and at night a combination of overhead lighting and bedside lamps.
There is a tallboy wardrobe with 5 drawers, a mirror, 2 bedside cabinets with 3 drawers, a hairdryer and clothes brush.
The lounge has 2 single sofa beds which convert into twin beds.
The Loft Apartment has one bedroom with oak king size bed with headboard and footboard.
Lighting in the room is natural daylight and at night a combination of overhead lighting and bedside lamps.
There is a fitted pine unit which houses a wardrobe plus 3 open shelves and a mirror, 2 bedside tables with lamps, a hairdryer and clothes brush.
The Cottage has one open plan bedroom / dressing area on the first floor which is accessed by a wooden staircase.
Lighting is by ceiling lights, table lamps plus natural lighting through two velux windows which open outwards.
There are two pine chests of drawers plus a hanging rail plus 2 bedside tables with lamps.

BATHROOMS

The Garden Apartment has a separate bathroom with step free, level access and a door opening of 69cm.
A large walk in shower with a 2cm step down entry.

The laundry facilities are in a separate area which is accessed by a separate pathway.
There is a coin operated front loading washing machine and a coin operated front loading tumble dryer, both machines accept £1 coins.
Flooring is painted concrete.
The room is lit by fluorescent lighting.

GROUNDS AND GARDENS

The garden areas around the apartments, which guests are welcome to use, are south facing and extend out from the entrance doors to the apartments.
These garden areas have no stepped areas and are laid to lawn with various bushes planted allowing for privacy.
